My name is Laura Stoneman and I am the proud owner of Pooch Perfect, the friendly dog grooming salon with a difference!

We are based in a beautiful part of Rainham, Kent, surrounded by wildlife and countryside. A truly unique setting that is calm and welcoming. 

Working with animals has been my dream for many years, since I was five years old in fact. As a schoolgirl I worked a Saturday job at my local veterinary surgery, Margetts & Associates in Gillingham and this opportunity later developed into a full time position as a trainee Veterinary Nurse. I learned much about the needs, handling and care of animals in my two and a half years at Margetts. I really admired and respected the way my boss, Alan, genuinely cared and took his time with each and every animal that he treated. To this day we personally still use Margetts & Associates for our own cute little fur babies, Hattie and Doobie. They may look innocent in the photo below but don't let that fool you!

Working in a veterinary surgery it quickly became apparent that my connection with dogs was something really quite special, and it is dogs in particular that I became even more passionate about.

I later left veterinary nursing to gain some business and customer service experience but I knew that, one day, I would pursue my dream to have a full-time career working with dogs.

I completed my City & Guilds level 3 training with Debbie Noah at Dazzles Dog Grooming in Wrexham, Wales.

My time with Debbie was absolutely invaluable. She taught me an inordinate amount about the skill of dog grooming and styling and carrying out all the relevant techniques safely, resulting in beautiful, happy dogs!

My confidence in working with these wonderful animals soared and I was very successful in my training, achieving distinctions across all of my assessments which were carried out at The Bristles Dog Grooming and Training Salon by Debby Knight.
I will be forever grateful to both Debbie and Debby for all they have taught me.

I wanted to combine everything I loved and had learned whilst working with the experts to start my own dog grooming service.

My vision was to create a salon which would be the most convenient, flexible and friendly one around for the busy dog owner, styling and grooming their beloved friend to their own specific requirements whilst ensuring the experience is as enjoyable, calming and stress-free as possible for the pooch. 

So, with the training, skills, knowledge, passion and incredible support of my amazing husband, family, friends and mentors, Pooch Perfect was born.

I am the luckiest girl in the world, living my dream at Pooch Perfect, being ‘barking mad about clean and happy hounds!’
